03 Nov Drenched’s solo pitch to The Queen Seals Pitch@Palace triumph

Water-saving experts Drenched, an Entrepreneurial Spark Powered by NatWest Chiclet based in the Leeds Hatchery, were celebrating a big win at St. James’s Palace last night.

Drenched was one of three businesses to win The Duke of York’s Pitch@Palace 6.0 after pitching against 11 businesses at the prestigious awards ceremony at the Palace.

Drenched creates water-saving and other energy efficient technology which embraces the true meaning of conservation and sustainability. Its hero product ‘The Volumiser’ saves 90% more water than its nearest rival in the market.

Established by The Duke of York, in just three years Pitch@Palace has helped over 205 businesses grow, with some now enjoying huge global success.

Founder and Managing director of Drenched Wes Sugden-Brook says that winning Pitch@Palace was “surreal” and that his “head was spinning”.

The Queen attended the start of the event hosted by her son the Duke, met some of the entrepreneurs and was in the audience for Wes’s pitch, before leaving for another engagement.

“It was such a privilege just to be there in that environment, but to be the only one who pitched to HM The Queen was unbelievable, that still hasn’t sunk in.

“It felt like we’d already won just being there, the whole night was fantastic, the room was full of high calibre investors including a high-level delegation from the Chinese government. I also spoke to Sir Evelyn de Rothschild and Peter Jones, which was incredible.

“I had a quick orange juice this morning with a potential investor and I’m visiting Windsor Castle tonight at the invitation of the Duke of York to meet a group from Silicon Valley. The whole experience has been amazing.”

Wes says that Entrepreneurial Spark has really helped him to focus: “The guys at Entrepreneurial Spark have really helped. They stopped me spinning around, because everything was moving so fast for the business. The focus and clarity they gave me has been absolutely invaluable.”

Leeds Enabler Melinda O’Reilly in turn says that she was not surprised that Wes won Pitch@Palace: “Wes is so driven and has become so credible, now to see him win this is just fantastic!”.

Lucy-Rose Walker, CEO of Entrepreneurial Spark said: “What fantastic news for Wes, for Drenched and for the team in Leeds. Entrepreneurial Spark Powered by NatWest is enabling businesses like Drenched every day to #GoDo and push themselves further. Melinda’s work with Wes is a great example of how we make entrepreneurs credible, backable and investable.”
